Cross-Country Skiing
Winter is a great season for snowy adventures on Otonabee Conservation lands. Bring your skis and visit our trails as you enjoy the winter wonderland across our watershed - and get a great workout, too!
Darling Wildlife Area
Darling Wildlife Area provides the ideal location for winter recreational activities. Ski along the shoreline of the Otonabee River and watch for wildlife on the property. Discover the diverse ecosystems and habitats with the area's natural scenic views.
Jackson Creek Trail
During the winter months the Jackson Creek Trail offers 4 kilometres of machine-groomed trail (Jackson Park to Ackison Road) for both classic and skate-style cross-country skiing. Machine grooming is provided by the Peterborough Nordic Club (PNC), a group of local volunteers. This has been made possible through an agreement between Otonabee Conservation and the PNC.
Miller Creek Wildlife Area
Cross-country skiing at Miller Creek Wildlife Area is a fantastic winter activity. The trails here are natural, which means they are not specially groomed or prepared, and that's part of the adventure!
These trails are great for skiers of all levels to enjoy the beautiful snowy landscape and spot some winter wildlife along the way.
Be sure to bring your own skis, and get ready for an exciting, un-groomed, cross-country skiing experience!
Squirrel Creek Conservation Area
Squirrel Creek Conservation Area is by the Otonabee River and maintained by the Township of Otonabee South Monaghan. With a 111.4-hectare area, it serves as a great cross-country skiing location.
The trails here are natural, which means they aren't specially groomed or prepared, but that's part of the adventure! Be sure to bring your own skis.
