Flood Status downgraded to Flood Watch April 23, 2025
Message # 2025-12
Issued: 3:00 pm., Wednesday April 23, 2025
Flood Watch - Issued to residents throughout the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation.
The Flood Warning that has been in effect for the Trent-Severn Waterway has been downgraded to a Flood Watch.
Water levels within Otonabee Conservation’s jurisdiction along the Trent-Severn Waterway have recently dropped. However, with rain in the forecast beginning Friday and continuing into Saturday, there is potential for nuisance flooding of low-lying lands, and the following conditions may occur:
• Potential for road access to be restricted or impossible
• Flooding in basements or lower levels with openings at, near or below grade
• Residents are encouraged to move items in low-lying areas to higher ground
The Flood Risk for local watercourses (Ouse River, Indian River and tributaries to the Otonabee River) has been downgraded to a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety. Forecasted rainfall will temporarily increase water levels but flooding is not expected in these areas.
Area residents and visitors are strongly advised that slippery stream banks and deep, turbulent, fast flowing water create dangerous conditions around all water bodies and watercourses.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring weather updates and water levels, and to be prepared for possible flooding. Water levels can be monitored at Trent-Severn Waterway, Water Survey of Canada and Otonabee Conservation websites.
