Flood Warning Update - Issued
 to residents throughout the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation.

Flooding in low lying, flood-prone areas will worsen over the coming days along the Trent-Severn Waterway (Kawartha Lakes, Otonabee River and Rice Lake) and local watercourses, including the Ouse River, Indian River and tributaries to the Otonabee River. These areas are experiencing extremely hazardous water levels and flows.

Risks to public safety and property are particularly high along the Trent-Seven Waterway and may include:

·       Potential for significant basement flooding;

·       Possibility of 1st floor flooding in the lowest parts of flood-affected areas;

·       Flooded roads causing unsafe driving conditions;

·       Potential for road access to be limited or impossible; and,

·       Flooding creating even more complex issues for flood-affected populations that are currently without electrical power.

Everyone is advised to stay away from all shorelines and watercourses.

Residents are advised to monitor conditions and take appropriate action to protect themselves and their property against imminent or occurring flooding along all watercourses including the Kawartha Lakes within the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation, Otonabee River, and Rice Lake. Water levels can be monitored at Trent-Severn WaterwayWater Survey of Canada and Otonabee Conservation websites.
