Message # 2025-06

Issued: 12:30 am., Thursday March 20, 2025

Water Safety Statement - Issued to residents throughout the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation.

Otonabee Conservation has extended the Water Safety Statement, previously issued on March 13ᵗʰ,
until March 27ᵗʰ, 2025.

Rain is expected starting today and continuing for the next week. This precipitation combined with
melting snow will result in continued rising water levels. While flooding is not expected at this
time, residents should be cautious around all watercourses.

Stay informed, stay prepared, and stay safe this spring season:

•  Monitor water levels and flows at Trent-Severn Waterway, Water Survey of Canada and
Otonabee Conservation websites.
•  Consider preparing a flood emergency kit and developing a family emergency plan.
•  Move personal property from low lying areas, crawl spaces and basements to higher
ground.
•  Stay away from shorelines as they can be slippery and unstable.
•  Avoid all recreational activities in, on or around water.
•  Do not attempt to walk on ice-covered waterbodies.
•  Rescuing anyone from icy water is dangerous. If you see a person or pet that has fallen through
the ice, call 911 immediately.

For more information about Flood Forecasting and Warning visit the Water and Levels and Flooding
page on our website or subscribe to receive flood messages directly.

This Watershed Safety Statement will expire Thursday, March 27th, 2025, unless up-dated earlier.

Note: A Water Safety Watershed Conditions Statement may be issued when there are high flows, unsafe
banks, melting ice or other factors could be dangerous for recreational users.
